All the staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough for us. Room was lovely, big, clean and well equipped. Public rooms were also very nice. Food was nice but I expected more.

The steak was nice but I have had nicer and cooked nicer myself. Mussels to start nice but not fantastic. breakfast of haddock and poached eggs good but fish a bit over cooked but I am a real foodie and a good cook myself!

Our room was very comfortable and unique.Dinner was excellent but pricey

    Breakfast was rather over priced

A hotel of character set in beautiful grounds and set beside the seaside with a private beach. A great find and we will definitely all be visiting again, but for longer next time!

The location is amazing, just a few minutes from the beach, all surrounded by a nice park and great view of the sea! Our standard room was very bright and clean, with comfortable bed and a huge terrace just for us! The common rooms in the hotel are very nice and romantic, all with fireplace!

The Golf course is not very well kept (but might be because I visited during low season) and restaurant a bit pricey.

Beautiful location in a relaxed environment Some of the senior waitng staff werevery good - attentive and clearly enjoyed their job and wanted to ensure all guests were happy and looked after - some others were not so, there was one female waitress who was almost rude, she wasnt friendly, seemed inpatient and that she just couldnt be bothered - if we'd known her name I would have complained about her to front desk

Room overlooked the back of the kitchen and could hear kitchen/waiting staff discussing other residents/staff members which was not appropriate - flet that we'd paid alot and shouldnt have had to hear this during our stay. Room also next to fire exit and at the back of the house, am sure there were other rooms for the same price we paid which was nicer - felt a little pushed out of the way. I would argue that we had a golf course/garden view - that was a stretch of the imagination! And disappointing

The room was super with an amazing view over the bay. The reception staff and the breakfast staff were most agreeable and seemed to want to make the guests' stay enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent and served in a lovely room by superb staff

The evening restaurant staff - and the food. The staff were invasive and overpowering, and the food was pretentious and expensive. They are trying too hard. There needs to be more choice and food that relies on quality over technique.

The room and the whole building had a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We also like the setting, including the beach. Finally, the food was excellent.

Our only problem was a loud vibrating fan-like noise that occurred at about 5.00 to 6.00 on the Sunday morning. We reported this on check-out and the staff took this very seriously.

    The location

Rooms overpriced considering how tired they were. No walk in showers, only over bath with no shower screen. Menu same every night.

I stayed in room 11 and it was the most idyllic room i have ever stayed in, perfect.

The parking could be better designed.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food, friendly service - place to meet friends

Excellent food, good service, reception staff were particularly good and helpful. Great location so close to beach.

Some staff (not many to be fair) seemed not to understand english fully so there was some confusion on a couple of occasions regarding coffees, food being served too early I.E. next course arriving before we had finished the first!!!!!

On arrival at the hotel we were extremely impressed with our 'find' What a lovely historic hotel in large, beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the sea. We received a warm friendly and genuine welcome and were shown to our lovely room on the top floor which was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated with spectacular views of the gardens and bay. There was certainly plenty to explore in the grounds and then we found ourselves walking through a woodland area which led to a private beach. Very impressive and romantic. An ideal venue for weddings/honeymoons/romantic breaks. We dined in both restaurants. The Island Room is a more formal dining experience but we preferred the oyster brasserie which felt more relaxed and we enjoyed dining outside on the terrace. We also asked if we could have breakfast outside and the table was set for us (and other guests) without any complaint. It was a great base from which to explore the island, the only regrets we had were that we could have spent more time in the hotel and grounds just relaxing. We will certainly be re-visiting as soon as we can. A very impressive and relaxed venue with good food and a friendly, unstuffy atmosphere.

Spacious room - friendly staff - bar and dining facilities

Dinner very good except for the lamb which was disappointing

I was able to combine a working trip with a spot of relaxation and thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Only one small thing was in the evening staff where moving furniture ready for the mornings activities of a new carpet being laid
